World leaders at G8 Summit take a seat on m_sit
Germany, May 2007.
When the group of eight leaders from Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, Russia, Japan, Canada and the USA meet in the seaside resort Heiligendamm from the 6th to 8th of June, Haworth will be part of the scene. The full-line manufacturer of adaptable workspaces has been given the contract of furnishing the Kempinski Hotel with their art.collection line of lounge seating for this year's G8 summit.
Together with the office of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, four rooms will be furnished with the lounge chairs and sofas from the m_sit product line. During the three-day summit, the leaders of the G8 countries will take part in bilateral discussions on setting up stable conditions for global economic and trade relations, and very probably, George W. Bush, Wladimir Putin or the newly elected French President Nicolas Sarkozy will take a seat in one of the chairs designed by the German Wolfgang C.R. Mezger. The line received an iF product design award in 2006.
Since the first conference held in 1975 in the French town of Rambouillet, the G8-summit has become one of the most important international discussion forums for the definition and sharing of global responsibilities. The annual event offers participants a platform for the exchange opinions and ideas at the highest level.
