Esedra Evolution - The Latest Generation of Room Partitioning Systems

Bad Münder, September 2006.

Esedra (Design Haworth R&D Centre Italy) is the name of a new glass partition system that is characterised by an inherent simplicity and transparency. The natural openness of glass combines with the technical benefits afforded by aluminium to form an aesthetically pleasing whole. The partitions are made of laminated glass, which can be either transparent or satinised, mounted on high-tech aluminium profile strips, with vertical joints made of transparent polycarbonate.

The Esedra system is the result of a design process aiming at achieving a product that meets the requirements of a modern working environment. The transparent nature of the material means that the full benefits of daylight can be enjoyed - a great advantage to office personnel - while a simple refit is all that is required to create efficient room partitions with good acoustic properties. The intelligent design incorporates a mechanism for correcting floor irregularities; the relevant adjustments can be made either during the assembly process or afterwards. This flexibility of construction ensures a perfect interplay between the individual elements of the system, offering solutions for coping with a multitude of interior conditions, such as variations in ceiling height. Upon request, blinds are also available, to enable variations in the balance between open accessibility and privacy.

Since the launch of Esedra in 2004, the product has won enthusiastic praise both from customers and from the A&D community. At this year's Orgatec, Haworth now presents the latest generation, with new surfaces, new accessories, new design details and lighter profiles, for improved transparency and an enhanced aesthetic.
