Haworth receives red dot award for Planes

It is the eighth time Haworth has been awarded a red dot award in the category "product design" by the Design Centre Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany. Planes, a timelessly elegant furniture series for conference and meeting areas, was designed by Daniel Figueroa and the Haworth Design Team.

To qualify for the award of the leading European centre of design culture is a symbiosis of design quality, ecological principles, uniqueness and imagination. With Planes, Haworth could convince the jury to meet all the high set requirements. "We are proud that we have received this highly recognised award for Planes. This time it is even more special for us as this is the first global product Haworth has won the red dot award for." says Jörg Bakschas, Director Poductline Management Europe.

The recognition shows once more Haworths' design quality. Inspiration for Planes gave the ideas of Bauhaus., a school in Germany that combined crafts and the fine arts, and for the approach to design that it publicised and taught. With this in mind Daniel Figueroa and the Haworth Design Team created a masterpiece for the 'office stage' where the scene constantly changes.

Planes is designed around the principle of a simple construction that can be put together without the use of any tools. With the innovative quick lock technology, combined with the light construction elements, Haworth can offer a durable solution.

Red dot stands for belonging to the best in design and business. The red dot is an internationally recognised quality label for excellent design that is aimed at all those who would like to qualify their business activities with the help of design. The qualification is based on the principle of selection and presentation. Outstanding design is selected in the international design competition 'red dot design award' by competent expert juries in the fields of product design, communication design, and design concepts.
3,203 applications from 51 countries applied for the desired quality sign "red dot".

Since 1955 the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen has awarded outstanding product design with its famous dot. Companies and designers of various industries can apply for the award in 16 different product categories.
