Gold iF Award for LIM
Hannover, 2 March 2010
Not only has LIM (Light in Motion) won an iF product design award 2010, it was also named as one of the 50 "best in competition" products from among 2,486 entrants for this prestigious prize. Since the iF award is one of the world's most distinguished design acclamations, and has been ever since its inauguration in 1953, Haworth Inc. is particularly proud of this recognition of LIM's design excellence.
Traditionally, the International Design Forum announces its annual iF design awards on the first day of CeBIT, the "world's foremost tradeshow for the digital industry" in Hannover, Germany. The iF jury selects the winners for their design quality, processing, innovation, functionality and ergonomics in 16 product categories. Of the 778 iF award-winners in 2010, only 50 have been named "best in competition". LIM's award has come in the Light category.
Paul Olesh, Vice President Product Marketing, Product Development & Supply Chain Europe, accepted the iF Gold Award on behalf of Haworth Inc.: "As a company, we are particularly delighted that LIM has been placed among the top 50 products in this highly acclaimed design contest. We see this as confirmation of our company's policy of striving to design and manufacture products that harmoniously combine form and function."
LIM is a multi-purpose, multi-task LED light with an elemental structure and multiple reconfigurations for office, institutional, hospitality and residential applications. This refined and elegant light - a simple aluminium extrusion profile - was designed by Pablo Pardo of Pablo Designs and Ralph Reddig from the Haworth Design Studios. The light's magnetic and pivot platforms, small base and attachment methods ensure easy adjustment and 180° rotation for greater application flexibility. Moreover, LIM meets strict environmental standards. The light is crafted from recycled aluminium and the LEDs have a life span of up to 50,000 hours. Since it was introduced in June 2009, LIM has also won a 2009 Silver Best of NeoCon and is a finalist for the Interior Design Magazine Best of Year (BOY) and FX International Design awards.
