Kiron desk system launched

Timeless, future proof and extendable - these are the characteristics which today's office furniture should fulfil. With Kiron, Haworth now presents a desk program which truly meets these expectations.

German designer Andreas Struppler created together with the Haworth European development team a new work desk and storage program which can merge into any environment. Commenting on Kiron, which was primarily designed for the northern European market, Cordula Bode, Product Manager of Haworth Germany states, "It is certainly our aim to develop products for the global market, which means we shall introduce the Kiron desk system to the North American market. We also heard that there is interest for the system in the Asian market." 

Kiron sets a high ecological benchmark: "Amongst others, we use table tops based on wood chip - a by-product which until recently was just disposed of - now our raw wood material is used  up to 100 percent." Says Cordula Bode. And along these lines, Haworth also uses aluminium as a sustainable material for their frames.  A new design feature in the Kiron program is the integration of table and storage space. As a result, the desk is placed directly in the storage and both become part of the entire configuration.

As Cordula Bode underlines "Kiron is a product which stays in the background while merging into the architectural environment." Matching screens and organisational accessories round off the new product line and as stated by the product manager,  "Haworth plans to further develop Kiron into a new core program - further extensions are already in the pipeline. We took special care during development to make sure that the new line-up can be combined with our other products. The universal design strategy allows the combination with  our new chair families Very and System 59."

Kiron will be available from February 2010 onwards.
