Zurich showroom opened

Haworth has opened a new showroom in the AirGate building at the heart of Zurich in Switzerland. At 800m², it is one of the largest office exhibition spaces in the city. Over 180 guests attended the grand opening, enjoying the opportunity to network while finding inspiration in the innovative office design.

Haworth's President, Franco Bianchi, flew in from the US Headquarters in Michigan specifically for the event, and impressed visitors with his speech:

"Switzerland is an important reference point for Haworth in Europe. If we succeed here, we are on the right path to success throughout Europe and the rest of the world", said Bianchi.

The Swiss architect, Andres Carosio, spoke of the challenges in adapting the former restaurant into a showroom, specifically mentioning the ceiling design. As both a design statement and a means of noise control, the ceiling is formed of a series of flowing waves.

The Zurich showroom is the first Haworth showroom in Europe that was designed from the outset with LEED guidelines in mind. The air conditioning system was converted to require less energy, the carpet is made from recycled fibres, and the entire area is lit with energy-saving lights.

The event served to promote the Organic Workspace approach along with Haworth's new product launches, the Kiron desk system, the System 59 task chair and the multipurpose Very chair.
