SAP

Industry: High Technology
Italy, Rome

Client

As market leader in enterprise application software, SAP helps companies of all sizes and industries run better. Founded in 1972, SAP (which stands for "Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing") has a rich history of innovation and growth as a true industry leader. Today, SAP has sales and development locations in more than 50 countries worldwide. SAP applications and services enable more than 172,000 customers worldwide to operate profitably, adapt continuously and grow sustainably.

Challenge

The client wanted to focus on the principles of sustainability while meeting the criteria for mental and physical well-being within the organisation. The space needed to be comfortable and open enough to facilitate knowledge sharing while still allowing employees to operate happily in peace and quiet.

The use of space had to increase efficiency and flexibility – this included open spaces and desk sharing, with modular meeting rooms, multi-purpose rooms and breakout areas, so each space serves a specific purpose.

Scope

The office space covers 1,600m2 , which is shared between 138 employees and holds 18 meeting rooms.

Story

The Haworth team worked with the client, SAP, the Architect Riccardo Minello from Studio ArchiLabs and the real estate company, Edil Quadrifoglio, in a focus group to create an extended interior design team that could deliver the highest level of customer satisfaction. The team satisfied the need to deliver a modular and flexible solution thanks to the combination of the Haworth partitioning systems ‘Network’ and ‘Esedra’.

These wall partitions complement each other and harmonised perfectly with the framed glass structure of the building, creating a light, transparent, acoustically sound space.

The open plan office area was built with Tutti, as chosen by the client. The specifications were for a modular, reconfigurable wall which would support all the necessary cabling in a way that it could be easily accessed for inspection and alteration. Haworth’s Tutti spinewall houses data, voice and power cables running from holes in the raised flooring right up to the ceiling, and along the full length of the wall. Engineers installed technical panels for easy access.

The final touch was the seating solution, which met both user expectations and the company policy for employee well-being. The System 59 seating family was designed and manufactured according to the most recent criteria for ergonomics, functionality and environmental sustainability.
