Developed by Simon Desanta, in cooperation with Haworth Design Studio, the System 59 chair incorporates essential functionality into a sleek, clear design. The functions have been neatly integrated into the chair, and the automatic adjustment to the user's weight removes the need for tedious manual adjustment, and leaves them in such comfort that they are almost unaware of the seat.
The automatic adjustment (Automatic-Weight-Control-Mechanism) is Haworth's in-house development, and sets new standards for ergonomics and seating comfort. The System 59 task chair introduces this unique solution to Haworth's portfolio, offering optimum support without manual adjustment. The user's body weight is transmitted through the seat surface to the mechanism, which counterbalances the pressure of the backrest, supporting the user's dynamic sitting.
System 59 has been developed following the "Design for Environment" principles. Accordingly, the chair may be disassembled into its individual material components, a fact which guarantees it is up to 95% recyclable. Furthermore, production and logistics have been efficiently organised in order to minimise negative impact on the environment.
