Orgatec 2010: Spotlight on LIM and Brazo lights

There are office lights, and there are Haworth lights. The average office user may find the difference hard to spot. But the people who sit on award juries have an expert eye for decisive details. And that is where two award-winning desk lights from Haworth, LIM and Brazo, have outshone the competition.

LIM

LIM a multi-purpose, multi-task LED light designed by Pablo Pardo of Pablo Designs and Ralph Reddig from the Haworth Design Studio, is characterised by a minimalist design, application versatility and environmentally friendly production and energy consumption. It merges into any room, adding a touch of elegance, and performs equally impressively as a freestanding soloist or in an orchestra of light. The light’s magnetic and pivot platforms, small base and attachment methods ensure easy adjustment and up to 360° rotation for greater workplace flexibility for the pivot model. LIM also complies with strict environmental standards since it is crafted from recycled aluminium and the LEDs have a life span of up to 50,000 hours.

These qualities were honoured by the iF Gold 2010 Product Design Award and the classification as one of the 50 “best in competition” products from among 2,486 entrants for this prestigious prize, which is awarded annually by the International Design Forum.

Versions:

  1. LIM Freestanding Block (white, brushed aluminium)
  2. LIM Freestanding Pivot (white)

Brazo

The eye-catching aluminium body gives this award-winning desk lamp a stylish, modern design, for which Pablo Pardo was responsible. Brazo was the first task light to offer focus control, making it ideal for use near computer monitors. Other key features include full dim control via a dimmer knob at the back end of the arm, 360° head rotation with a 90° vertical pivot, height adjustment and tangle-free wire rotation.

The LEDs, which are significantly more energy-efficient than incandescent lamps, have a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours. This and the fact that the aluminium body is recyclable make Brazo a highly sustainable desk lamp.

Brazo’s awards include the 2007 NeoCon Best of Competiton, 2007 Best of NeoCon Gold and 2008 IDEA Gold.
